About Broward County Public Schools

Broward's 2027-2028 school year begins Tuesday, August 10, 2027, and ends Wednesday, May 31, 2028. Memorial Day falls on May 29, but students return May 30 before the final early-release day. The district calendar lists 84 student days in the first semester and 96 in the second, totaling 180. Although the PDF still carries the heading "Option #1," BCPS has published it as an approved school-year calendar.

Spring break is March 13-17, 2028. Because Monday, March 20 is a teacher planning day, students don't return until Tuesday, March 21. A separate stretch without classes follows the April 13 early-release day: Friday, April 14 is a day off, and Monday, April 17 is teacher planning. With the weekend, students have four days off before returning April 18. October has a similar long weekend: October 11 is a day off, October 12 is teacher planning and classes resume October 13.

Monday, February 14 is an early-release day for A Day of Service and Love, a BCPS observance honoring those affected by the 2018 tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The other five early-release dates—October 8, December 17, March 10, April 13 and May 31—are also designated as severe-weather make-up dates. Students are scheduled to attend on all six dates unless BCPS announces a change. The PDF says semester exams take place before winter break but does not provide course-level exam dates, report-card distribution dates or school-specific dismissal times.

About This Calendar

Data source & handling: The local Option #1 PDF is byte-for-byte identical to the 2027/28 calendar currently linked by BCPS. The district’s December 18, 2025 announcement confirms approval of both school years; the file’s Option #1 heading does not make the currently published calendar a pending proposal. Dates are collected from district materials and organized into key dates, monthly calendars and calendar subscriptions. Visit Broward County Public Schools’s official website.

Disclaimer: Your school supplies dismissal times, exam assignments, report distribution and graduation arrangements. Check BCPS announcements for weather-related changes before relying on an early-release schedule.
