About Duval County Public Schools

Duval County Public Schools lists Tuesday, August 10, 2027, as the first student day and Friday, May 26, 2028, as the scheduled last day. Students are off November 22-26 for Thanksgiving and return Monday, November 29. The published district calendar also includes school closures for Labor Day, Veterans Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day and Good Friday.

Both winter and spring breaks are followed by student-free staff days. Schools close December 20-31, 2027, for winter break, with employee planning on January 3 and professional development on January 4. Students return Wednesday, January 5. Spring break closes schools March 13-17, 2028, followed by planning on March 20 and professional development on March 21. Classes resume Wednesday, March 22.

The district lists four Weather Days: February 18, April 17, May 30 and May 31, 2028. February 18 falls just before the confirmed February 21 school closure, while April 17 follows the April 14 closure. The annual calendar does not confirm student attendance for those two weather dates, so neither four-day weekend is guaranteed. May 30-31 fall after the scheduled May 26 last day and could extend the school year if used for instruction. Families should confirm 2027-2028 school hours separately, especially at campuses with different bell schedules.
