About Duval County Public Schools
Duval County Public Schools revised its 2026-2027 calendar after feedback from parents and employees. Students now have the entire November 23-27 week off for Thanksgiving, along with student-free days on October 12 and 13. November 12 and 13 remain regular school days following the Veterans Day closure. The school year began Monday, August 10, 2026, and is scheduled to end Friday, May 28, 2027. Families using a calendar saved before the April revision should check these dates against the updated version.
The last class day before winter break is December 18. Schools are closed December 21 through January 1, followed by employee planning on January 4 and professional development on January 5. Students return Wednesday, January 6. In March, students have no classes on March 11 and 12 for staff days, immediately before the March 15-19 spring break closure. They return Monday, March 22. Schools close again on Friday, March 26, a separate holiday.
Duval has four weather make-up dates: March 29, April 26, June 1 and June 2, 2027. The district will use them in that order if weather closures require replacement school days. Unused dates remain student-free, but the June dates could extend the school year beyond May 28. The district has also confirmed that there are no regular early-release days in 2026-2027. School start and dismissal times still vary at some campuses.
